Well to some of us Scots high tea is different than England (well I never found the same)

In Scotland high tea was bread, cakes, tea and fish and chips or macaroni cheese and chips etc.
Your whole meal all included in one price.

Whereas in England they simply meant cup of tea and scones, cakes etc where I was looking for my dinner

Clearly English people are better than Americans I don't think anyone on here would deny that. There are a few half decent Americans like Tracym, rete, NCpenguin but that's about it out of the whole country. If you want real friends you can't beat a good European no doubt about it.

I don't consider we are better than Americans...they are just different...that's all. They have had a different upbringing...a different culture...that's why we can't relate to them but we can relate to each other.

We called it 'afternoon tea' not 'high tea'.

Isn't high tea what they used to have in Edwardian times? A meal which would fill the toffs till the real dinner late at night so they could spend the night dancing and going out to see fireworks, what?

afternoon tea is the same I think throughout the UK..know what you are getting.

Boy did I miss those proper high teas when I was living in England.
