Breakfast In America!

Re: Breakfast In America!
Good video .. thanks for that! The knife & fork thing; she was trying, at least she picked up both utensils. But she had them reversed! The knife is supposed to be in your right hand! (I think; sitting at my office desk, trying to mime the action..)
She is very cute so I had to watch the video twice, once looking at the bacon & eggs, the second time looking at the eater..
I agree, "hash brown" is definitely an American import. When I was a youngster, we'd fry up whatever leftover potatoes we had to go with breakfast; could be a bit of mash, or sliced up boiled spuds..
Getting back to the video, it looks like a delicious plateful but ... TAKE AWAY THE BEANS OR I'LL GAG. (Or was baked beans another thread? can't remember now..)

Chips go great with an Ulster Fry, or potato waffles would work

Philistines! You need bread and butter to go with a breakfast not chips - works better for mopping duties with the beans and fried tomatoes.
It has to be medium sliced white with a generous slather of butter.
Of course you also need a proper mug of tea (black tea, none of these fancy shmancy teas), decently stewed with a dollop of milk.
Damn, I'm hungry now.

I'm quite a fan of old-fashioned "hotel toast." It is served in triangles, in a silver plated toast rack. It was actually toasted a while ago and kept warm, hence its flexible characteristics. Good with butter & marmalade, or inserted under the egg in the breakfast plate.

oh god i do miss buttermilk biscuits hot from the oven, with a light layer of butter and then a big ol drizzle of honey or maple syrup...*drool*..
time to find the uk version of the recipe then..
but until then I'm sure a bacon butty will suffice..
