First weeks in Cairns

Yes, we've decided not to buy just know and watch the market and see what happens over the next six months or so...my own theory is that there just aren't many big money earners in Cairns to support house prices being much higher than they are now. Most people have regular jobs in goods, services, trades etc...certainly not earning mega bucks so I'm hoping the prices have reached a plateau and if interest rates go up again we might even see some drops..........she hopes!
There's a few factors that could push it over the hill into a slide.
Interest rates is one.
Loads of empty investor houses is another.
They sell up cheap as they can't afford 2 mortgages or they rent cheap to fill their house so people rent instead of buying. Either way the prices drop.
On the other side the population is supposed to be increasing by 14 people per day but that isn't 14 looking to buy as of course that could be just 4 families.

Yep, I said something similar in another thread recently.

we've found a rental in Redlynch, just a townhouse but it's all new and never been lived in and handy for the kids school, will be moving this weekend. Hopefully in the next six months we'll have our PR visa and be in a better position to buy.

Windog has been working for a lady in Kewarra beach, tiling and some other odd jobs, we've been looking for a ute for him but no luck as yet for what he wants in our price range. Tools along with the rest of our wordly goods should be delivered in the next few weeks and then things should get a lot easier.
