Wardy, have you checked out these ?

http://www.dawsonseng.com.au/people_mickmahoney.html

Besides being a recruitment agency they have their own workshops.
I think one is at Stratford and another somewhere down on the port area.

Part of their thing is contract demolition work dismantling large mining operations and things on FIFO contract work.

Wasn't the best advert for cairns in the world.

Don't let it put you off beth
Oh well, if it puts a few people off then there's just more room for the rest of us!
Sadly it's not the crocs and stingers that kill people it's more likely toddlers drowning in swimming pools or young drivers in too fast cars .
Right about the houses tho.......really bl**dy expensive at the moment

It looks great feeling definately more positive about work opportunities for hubby. It certainly takes the pressure off.

Looks like the sort of stuff he works on here.

Unfortunately though I dont think thats unique to Cairns I know people who are struggling all along Queensland to find something in their price range I hear the Gold Coast is extortionate.

I'll be happy with a not so large house compared to what we have now we have a good size 3 bed but no garden as long as it has a garden i'll be happy

Yes, we've decided not to buy just know and watch the market and see what happens over the next six months or so...my own theory is that there just aren't many big money earners in Cairns to support house prices being much higher than they are now. Most people have regular jobs in goods, services, trades etc...certainly not earning mega bucks so I'm hoping the prices have reached a plateau and if interest rates go up again we might even see some drops..........she hopes!

Sounds stupid I know but it is possible to pick up body language over the phone.

Therefore tell him to take the call whilst standing up as we are more attentive when standing.
