Bloody BMI rubbish. Just another excuse for the medical industry to categorize people and sell them crap because they are outside a certain zone. Have you noticed how every year they keep lowering the reference points for glucose and cholesterol? Cholesterol of 4.1, better take these tablets to keep it down...hang on, last year the reference point was 5.5, why last year was I fit and healthy and this year, because YOU moved the upper reference value, I need to take tablets to lower my cholesterol.?!!!! (OK it's not quite that bad but you get my meaning.)

This is slightly off topic for 'First Weeks in Cairns' but...
do any of you people know people that can do some CNCing on the cheap-ish up here? I have some plans that I would like made into reality but it needs some aluminium block to be machined.

OMG!!!!! Had the formal job offer through!!!!

well done. that is a stella wage for cairns. as ive said before we do a lot of work for CEC and they are expanding everywhere. there going up the cape, to mount isa. there in townsville.

I'm so emotional today....what with my sister flying on Monday and the job offer etc, when you said that then I burst out crying
I feel sick with worry over the move.....and breaking my heart over my sister going....don't know whether to celebrate or break down now

You scared me to death then about the cost of living in Cairns.......hope we can manage only on one wage!!!
CEC have given us from March - May for hubby to start work.....so the longest we have is about 12 weeks from now, that's arriving 2-3 weeks before the end of May to get us settled in for a few weeks before he starts work so we know where the hell we are.

$876 which is about GBP 390 and it includes most of the charges for water and sewage. Not bad eh ?
