Eventually worked out o.k. he said I was very very nervous..think he though my heart was going to jump out of my chest! XRays were all fine....so £300 skinter and just have to wait now..apparently they won't get to Sydney until end of next week. i don't think i will be out there for that BBQ but shouldn't be too long after. Only downside of getting there nearer to the end of march will be that I ahve to work in Mackay for about 3 weeks with the boss (although he said we only need to be there 3 days a week)!! So not that bad.

Just have to hope they don't think I am too fat now! B.M.I 32 althought he doctor said I didn't look it and was well proportioned...whatever that meant!!!!

Also got my certificate through to practice in Queensland so I better get visa now..
So all in all, a good day Liz!

BMI is such a stupid measurement really

yes, just wait to see what they think on the weight side I guess..or should I say the weight combined with the hypertension tablets!

Do you know if the panel doctor tells you there and then if further investigations are required? Mind you, i put all of my investigations with my application so not really a lot they could ask for!

I havn't replied to your earlier question..about type of visa. I am applying for a Regional State Migratory Scheme Visa (subclass 119). This is where the sponsor pays the first part and then the job and he have to be approved by cairns council in this case. it then gets approved by brisbane D.I.M.A. When this is accepted I send my part off and I had already had police checks etc done and just kept hanging on for meds until I couldn't put them off any longer! The process started for me in Sept 2007 so not doing too bad...hope to be there by April at the latest. As soon as my visa comes through I then sponsor my partner..should take 2 months at most and then she will join me in cairns...by which time I should hopefully have a nice place to rent..with not much furniture in.. All I need is a sofa bed, sheets, a small table and chairs and a T.V till our furniture gets there!

What work do you do?
Liz

Actually Liz your application is for a Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa and the position has to be approved by a Regional Certifying Body which in Cairns case is the Cairns Chamber of Commerce, Commerce Queensland or Gulf Savannah Development.

Not that I'm pernickety or anything.

Well, our panel doc told me to go & get other reports but I don't know if that is typical or not!
So you have a job sorted which is good. Pity you have to be apart from your partner for a few months though!
I am a nurse. Not going to apply for jobs until we hear about the visa.

Oh, and the sponsor may have to pay a fee to the Regional Certification Body for their approval but pays no visa application fee to DICA.

Redlynch Grove estate.
Pathways and cycle tracks to the schools.

The state one is expanding by one year each year - I think they are up to year 9 now.
Catholic one is full school life.

http://www.ceo.cairns.catholic.edu.a..._redlynch.html

Both recommended.
Wannabie's kids go to the state one.

It's regarded as a very good area.
Only a 10-15 minute drive to the CEC depot I showed you yesterday.
I work one block away and do that journey.
On the bus route.
Ideally situated for short commutes to town, beaches and a lot of attractions.

Just to confuse there are Redlynch Grove appartment blocks where Rooksie lives but these are not on the Grove estate.

To save you time if you look online ignore anything that refers to Central or Valley estate.

I have to have a pool.......that is the girls demand!!!!!
Can't figure out if all of my girls would go to the same school or not
They are 12, 11, 8 & 3 years old. Anyone know?
I don't think it works the same in Oz school years.....so don't know what year they would be in school.

i would start learning to drive quickly. i think you will struggle living somewhere like cairns with 4 kids and not being able to drive. the public transport here is very poor and unreliable. sometimes the buses simply do not turn up. waits of up to an hour are not uncommon. i would choose very carefully where you live. smithfield or redlynch would be good options for schools, shops etc.
