Does that mean you only buy apples if they have a worm in them?

Fruits and vegetables fall under the "suitable for ...." exception. Obviously apples with worms in would be preferable.

You can enhance vegetables with butter and fruits with ice cream, of course. Dairy to the rescue once more.

I don't value the USDA opinion that much. They deem all sorts of things edible. Chlorine washed meat that goes into pink slime for instance.

You know, everyone's happy to ingest chlorine in the form of table salt, but as soon as it's mixed with hydrogen and oxygen it's all 'ooo, I'm not touching that'.

All elements matter ...

Cheese helps in many situations too, at least so long as it isn't low fat cheese.

Low fat cheese sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

Bleach and swimming pool treatments are acceptable chemicals for sterilizing a well. There is a slight chlorine taste left after the well is flushed, but no different from the chlorine smell from city water, usually IME, on Fridays.

The only difference with vegetarian cheese is that the rennet is derived from plants not animals, the rest is the same. Cheese goes really well with apple pie and with fruit cake..

It appears that vegetarian cheese is not widely available in the US, so you are safe.

The only country in the world that requires their cheeses be labeled and showing the source of the rennet is the U.K. where the majority of cheeses are used using plant based (fungi or mushroom) rennet.

So, in the United States and most of the world, most cheeses are not vegetarian, while in the UK, you can easily check the label to see.
