Pet Peeves?

Elemental chlorine is the problem, but if you've got clouds of chlorine gas coming towards you, then you apparently have just found yourself in World War I and have more things to worry about than your water ...

It appears that vegetarian cheese is not widely available in the US, so you are safe.
The only country in the world that requires their cheeses be labeled and showing the source of the rennet is the U.K. where the majority of cheeses are used using plant based (fungi or mushroom) rennet.
So, in the United States and most of the world, most cheeses are not vegetarian, while in the UK, you can easily check the label to see.

I have no issue with true vegetarians (eat no animal products), if that is their thing, but "vegetarians" whose motivation is only to ensure that nothing cute and fluffy died in the making of their food, are frauds.

As far as I know, all cheese is made from animal fat, ergo "vegetarian cheese" is an oxymoron.

We get a barely detectable chlorine smell in our city water that isn't noticeable in the taste.

I have become so used to well water that whenever I'm in a place with chlorinated city water the smell, however faint, is unbearable. I was in Philadelphia last year and could hardly brush my teeth, the water smelled so bad; my friends who live there didn't know what I was talking about!

I'll take the chlorine any day

I remember staying in Yorkshire where the outdoor well water was cleaner and tasted better than the brown stuff that came out of the house taps.

No, just y'all.
I shall submit y'all's paperwork to make you an honorary Southerner.
I'll let you know when you're approved, so you can have your Mini's roof sprayed with a CBF; you should consider upgrading the horn at the same time.
