All a bit Ned Flanders-ish, isn't it

I'd rather be referred to as an arsehole by my wife, than "hubby". Utterly vom-worthy. Luckily she usually referrs to me by name. We don't do the 'pet names' thing. It's rather sickening IMO.

You mean she doesn't say "hididly ho there, hubbily dubbily!" to you?
Yes, it's very Ned Flander-ish, indeed. Awful.

If she did I might be forced to have her committed ...

As I say, we don't do the silly pet names crap. We were given perfectly good names by our parents and we use those.

My husband used to work with a guy who always referred to children as 'kiddiewinkies'. He even used the term when delivering learned talks on paediatric topics

One should always be wary of using the suffix '-winkie' in connection with children. Even with the best of the most wholesome intentions, it can automatically make you look like the kind of bloke who keeps some wine gums in the inside pocket of a trenchcoat so he can walk around with no trousers on and 'offer you a sweetie' ...

The old principal of my kids elementary school used to refer to the children as 'the kiddos'. So bloody annoying, every school event we used to count how many times she said kiddos instead of listen to the information. I think at one back to school night it was in the 20s.
