This concerns me. I like to think I could tell, but now I wonder what things I might have unknowingly eaten in the past.

I mean, obvoiusly hot dogs, but anus tastes surprisingly good with the right seasoning.

The thing is the safety requirements for the production of dog food are higher that for human food, because the meat used is often meat that isn't allowed to be used as human food, so you certainly wouldn't catch any illnesses from it

The dog food has to be cooked at a higher temperature and pressure than human food, thus destroying what bacteria which may be in the meat, which comes mainly from horses, cows etc that have died or been ill in some way, the meat is stamped 'unfit for human consumption' but is can be used for pet food, but just needs more preparation.

That's why I always either use two knives, or wipe off the knife after using it for the butter. Just makes sense.

Even 2 knives isn't enough if you don't get enough out the first time ... speaking from experience with Marmite and butter!

I tend to favour wiping the knife with a paper towel before changing the jar I'm sticking it in, for this reason.
