I only take a precise half teaspoon of milk approximately.

Posters who come on the forum and ask us to "bare" with them while they tell us their life story. Just because they are naked when on the internet, doesn't mean I have to be or want to be....

Row upon row of sealed, tamper-proof toothpaste (all beckoning choose me!), whose plastic squeeze-me-tubes (100% non- bio-degradable) contain mostly air and (at most).....20% miracle tooth paste - guaranteed to make your pearly whites the envy of all smilers. A brush with deception doesn't put one in a smiling mood.

I've been thinking about toothpaste. I was in England recently, bought Tesco "Everyday Value" toothpaste. 25p a tube. Here, I buy Pepsodent, 99c a tube. Meanwhile, all the big brand name ones are $2.50 a tube and up, some more like $4! Meanwhile my cheap toothpaste seems to do the job OK.

Even cheaper, I would think, would be old-fashioned baking soda. Never tried it though

I read an article recently that said all toothpaste was basically the same. Don't waste money on the more expensive toothpaste because the cheap ones do exactly the same job.

Like laundry detergent. Back when "flake detergent" was the most common, virtually all the detergent in the UK came out of a factory in Cumbria, and was sold to the " brand companies" that blended the flakes with their own fragrance and a few other proprietary ingredients, to make each brand of soap flakes. I would be surprised if it wasn't the same with the liquid detergent.

Exactly, I should save money by flying to England four times a year to buy the 25p toothpaste.

Well if you're going to fly, you may as well upgrade from Economy and keep the little tube they give you in the overnight pack in Business and First - those are free!!

Marketing and product placement. I don't have TV, but I'll bet those brand name toothpastes like Crest are advertised on TV while Pepsodent, at 99c a tube, is not. Crest et al have big displays on mid level shelves, the Pepsodent is right down at floor level.
