Z-turn is the way to go, if you want a nicely striped yard.

But 2.5k and no cup holder :( I preffered my craftsman, much cheaper, on hand on the wheel and the other on a beer

I got a John Deere LT155 now; it's not Home Depot grade but not pro either.

I reaaaally want a Walker ; it is my dream Z-Turn .IIRC their models start at $6500 or $8000 for the basic model . Pros say it gives the best cut .
http://www.walkermowers.com/

What I love about them is the out-front deck, a must for cleaning out grass clippings / wet grass. I have had enough of removing the deck on my Deere to clean out the wet grass.

The other neat thing about Walker Z-turns is the well thought out design of the grass bin placement & accesories. I prefer a mulching deck (my Deere has it) as it means the nutrients go back into the lawn which invariably saves landfill space also but the bin collection comes in handy for fall leaf clean up .

It is Ebay and Craigslist for me. I bought my Deere off Craigslist. After travel expenses (to go fetch it ) and servicing, I figured I spent around $1300 for it.

I'm thinking a Bad Boy at the lower end (around $3.5k), or a Dixie Chopper if I can find the budget for $5k-$6k mower, but at the moment both are pipe dream territory and I'm managing just fine with a Craftsman V twin B&S that I've had for ten years, .... and in all honesty I hope it lasts another ten years, .... or twenty years! (My inner Yorkshireman finds it hard to blow $6k on a d@mn mower. )

$6K for a mower, I'd find that hard too.
Back in my east coast days I used to mow my half acre of lawn with a push mower for 3 years before i decided to get my craftsman ride on mower. Even then i felt like i was pushing the boat out by spending extra for the automatic over the manual.

Now out west my mowing days are over. 15 tonnes of 1 inch sedonna red rock, a palm tree and saguaro pretty much take care of themselves :D

Airlines that tell you although your flight is delayed, you will still make your connection, and continue to tell you that to the point where you are beyond the time of re-routing. Then tell you you won't make your connection after all and please will you come back tomorrow.
