I think that is an annual thing. At least, they do a cull in the swamp regularly.

The seasonal python hunt by anyone is still a thing (I think it's a month long) but I believe these are going to be full time.Bloody amateur herpetologists have a lot to answer for, dumping their oversized creatures outside when they get to big to be 'cute'.

A similar thing happened in Louisiana while we were living there. A man’s daughter came home unexpectedly from university, parked her car away from the house then hid inside to surprise him. Finding his door unlocked the father drew his handgun and entered cautiously. When his daughter jumped out to announce her presence he shot and killed her.

“You can’t really say anything against Mr. Dennis for doing what he did.”

“I think it was just a horrible accident"

Um? Because people out to get you and cause you harm knock before they attack you? At what point does a person think that answering their front door being knocked requires carrying a gun, presumably ready to shoot if this was an instant over reaction on pulling the trigger.

This girl could have caused a lot of trouble if her parents hadn't ratted her out.

Happened in Ohio recently, but it was mom who shot the daughter who came home to visit unannounced.

Glad my parents are not paranoid gun carrying folk, I can't imagine living in such fear that one feels they need to have a loaded gun nearby.
