If that is a consideration.
Mrs L is quite short, maybe just 5ft. With a top loader I was worried she would topple off the step I made for her to stand on, to reach the top, and fall in. We got a front loader as once it was on a base the door was at arm level. All she has to do is reach in. Much safer.

You can't go wrong with a top loader.

To throw a spammer in the works... I wouldnt touch LG with a barge pole. In two homes the kitchen LG appliances have proven to be crap ie ovens, fridges, TVs. I have no experience of LG washers...but I do know I wouldn't consider a front loader.

Question, do all these companies who have washers on the market actually make them? Or are a few manufacturers making several different labels and just slapping different names onto them?

HH would probably have a heart attack if he knew which country my washer was made in....

I've only had LG TV's but never had any issues with them, we have one that is pushing 10 now and still works well.

The other is only 2, but no issues yet.

It's quite common for one manufacturer to make multiple versions of products for others. for example many hotpoint washers were made by Indesit in Italy after Hotpoint closed their UK factory.

Some Hotpoint dishwashers are made by Indesit and some of the top range ones are made by Bosch in Germany. We bought a Bosch dishwasher in UK and you could compare it with the hotpoint next to it. Same label inside, looked identical inside - racks etc - only the control panel was different - less programs. Also the Bosch had a 5 year warranty and the hotpoint a one year.

Many fridges are made by one or two manufacturers but with slightly different shelf layouts, door design etc. LEC in the UK used to make fridges for Rumbelows, Currys, Co-op and the electricity boards. They went out of business when cheaper imports arrived.

Irons, coffee makers electric kettles , the list goes on. absolutely normal these days.

Seems LG builds or built some Kenmore fridges.

LG and Kenmore-branded refrigerator light defect causes meltdown - Canada - CBC News

Article has to do with a defect that causes the lights not to turn off and then over heat and melt plastic cover and heat the fridge up.

I don't know how accurate this link is, but apparently the brands different companies make.

BMW put a heat-shield into my Mini that was made of a flammable material.. Of course, that isn't a front-loader. More of a side-loader really.

If it has a sunroof or is a convertible it could be a top loader.

Maybe BMW was going for an authentic "British built car experience"?

It DOES usually contain an agitator.

To be truly authentic, it would require steam rather than actual flames though.
