That makes me feel modern and sophisticated having grown up with one of these. It does normally have a lid.

Someone who has a microwave and an espresso machine still has a twin tub?
My recollection, which may be wrong, was that twin tub my mother had, had its washing and spin tubs on the opposite sides.

I don't believe for one moment that many of the 100 million people in Mexico are doing their laundry in a creek.

...... I was active on this thread last night and I saw it just a minute or two after you posted it.
Her husband died in the 70's, but he may have been the washer of clothes in the 30's and 40's before they got their first machine in the 50's, but I couldn't say for sure.
