Well the Repubs were basically stuck with Trump, the Dems were not, they had an open if not free choice, so why go with Biden?

I assume most people, especially with this sort of choice, vote against things, Trumps policies are not that different to wht the Dems were doing 20 years ago, he has been a Dem for most of his life after all. Not everybody went woke.

I'm a pure centrist in almost all things - Trump is closer to me than Bernie.

Good news for Bernie supporters.
I hope Biden drops out and Bernie becomes the Dem candidate. Then we have a clear choice between Trumps policies and Bernie's. If Biden drops out, that doesn't mean his delegates go to Sanders or that the person who stayed in the second-longest gets the nomination. Biden will either give his delegates an instruction to coalesce around someone else (unlikely to be accepted by the party), or his delegates will be released unconditionally and probably a special nominating process will be held like the old days. They won't coalesce around Sanders. Bernie Sanders, Mr 29%, is done. Like an orange rind that's had all its juice squeezed out of it. He'll keep running for everything and everything, of course, like Harold Stassen. But to diminishing returns from here on out.

I am not going to go into Tara's accusations, just that it is beyond hugging and kissing, Trump is not a nice guy and comes across badly, but not sure he meant with the pussy grabbing is what he physically did, just a nasty turn of phrase.
We had an excellent offering of candidates this time round and still end up with two old white men with outdated attitudes who think with their dicks, nice one America. |

Now ... why is that? I think there's two fairly obvious reasons. 1) The democrats are not ready for the brand of 'socialism' (or call it what you like, doesn't matter) that Sanders was pushing - medicare for all, free education, etc etc. I mean - he made it real clear what he was pushing for, and they didn't vote for him, so it's hard to argue that one. 2) They might be willing to accept the path Sanders was proposing, but they felt that strategically, it was better to vote for Biden because they felt that Sanders would get creamed by Trump and the Republicans in the general. Regarding #2, yes, current polls show Sanders beating Trump but ... Trump has not yet turned up his big war machine to try to discredit his opponent. It won't take much talk of higher taxes, government takeover, government waste, government ... blah blah blah to scare a whole bunch of independents away from Sanders. Biden, being more moderate, is less of a target here. I voted for Biden in the primary mainly due to #2. |

Re: 2020 Election
I assume the NHS are not doing it unless they think there is some merit, I doubt they would do it on the basis of a few Trump tweets, well hopefully they would not.
I assume there must be a threshold before anything is trialed as to its likely success. I also presume that the vast majority of trials will fail, just need one that does not. I did wonder if it fell into the category of the common cold, they have never found a cure for that. |
