Considered "eloquent rhetoric" by some Republicans...

There are certainly a whole bunch of potential Republican nominees who'd
be a gift to the Democrats as well.

A gift to Bernie Sanders, according to today's Washington Post...

"A Biden candidacy -- assuming the vice president ran a credible effort with some decent percentage of support in early states -- would be the best possible thing for Sen. Bernie Sanders's (I-Vt.) chances of actually winning the nomination."

Bernie Sanders should be rooting like crazy for Joe Biden to run for president - The Washington Post

Would like to see him get in - but given the horrific personal tragedy he's enduring - cringe at thought of negative crap rising up to ensnare him at this point in his life.
And it would!

Apart from a few gaffes, Biden has been pretty uninteresting as a vice-president. I doubt he is even seen as Obama's right-hand man, so he wouldn't even get many votes from that.

In all fairness, the vice presidency is a pretty uninteresting job. The only real responsibility of the office is that of acting president of the senate --- and that only comes into play in the case of a tie breaking vote. Biden has done all of the heavy lifting as far as smoothing things over between Obama and the congressional Democrats as well as, specially in the first term, within the White House with the so called "Team of Rivals".

He's also carved out his own place as, quite possibly, the number one Obama surrogate. I can't think of anybody who's been a better surrogate other than maybe Michelle Obama herself. And that ain't nothing. It elevates Obama to have a loyal VP and Biden comes across as completely genuine so it's difficult to dismiss as just a political relationship. It's almost unprecedented. Other than Carter and Mondale, I can't think of a single healthy VP/POTUS relationship in modern times, perhaps ever. Most have been downright toxic and that information always gets leaked and tends to eventually weaken the image of both sides.

Monday...circus comes to courthouse:

Another day of distraction in store

...after 5 prior no-shows in years past, good-citizen Donald is scheduled to fulfill his civic responsibility on Monday.

He's been called to jury duty. And will show up! With his insatiable lust for attention / free publicity, this is one time he couldn't not show up

Courthouse mayhem guaranteed

What next?

Can the president fire their vice president and pick someone else during the presidents term?

I think we should switch to a new system, elect both the VP and Prez...

Yes but with the consent of both houses.

Well, technically, we don't vote for the president at all. We vote for other people who then vote for the president (and they usually, but don't always choose who we wanted them to choose.)

In the beginning, the VP was whoever came in second place. That didn't work out so well, which led to the 12th amendment.

Huckabee Backs Denying Abortion To 10-Year-Old Raped By Stepfather

Huckabee Backs Denying Abortion To 10-Year-Old Raped By Stepfather
"Does it solve a problem by taking the life of an innocent child?"

Posted: 08/16/2015 11:58 AM EDT

GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee supports Paraguay's decision to deny an abortion to a 10-year-old rape victim, he revealed in an interview Sunday.

In an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," the former Arkansas governor argued that the Paraguayan government's refusal to allow an abortion for the now-11-year-old, who gave birth last week after being raped by her stepfather, prevented a second tragedy.

"Let nobody be misled, a 10-year-old girl being raped is horrible, but does it solve a problem by taking the life of an innocent child?" he asked. He added later, "When I think about one horror, I also think about the possibilities that exist and I just don't want to think that somehow we discounted a human life ... Let's not compound the tragedy by taking yet another life."

The thing that just confounds me about statements like this..........does he not see that an 11 year old child's life is at extreme risk by giving birth to another child? I'm not sure why the religious right don't see the 10/11 year old girl as an innocent child too.

Unbelievable. Not only is it a medical risk for a 10/11 year old child to give birth, but that's 9 months of constant reminder of the original sick event ...

F**ing GOP ...

And this isn't just where evangelical Mike Huckabee stands on abortion. Off the top of my head, Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum, and Scott Walker also hold the same position. I'm sure there are other Republican candidates that, when pushed on the subject, will say exactly the same thing.

Yes, that's basically why I couldn't watch the Fox News "debate" the other night.

I think the last time I watched a Republican debate was in 2008 and they were discussing closing Gitmo.......they all try to outdick each other.

Going on the Gitmo debate, I can see an abortion debate going like this;

Candidate One: I have a particularly dickish stance on abortion

Candidate Two: I'll be a bigger dick with abortion

Candidate Three: I'll lock impoverished pregnant women up until they've had the baby and deny the baby food stamps once it's born. I think I win the biggest dick contest.

Or something like that.

Anyhow, it upsets me that my daughters are having to fight the same fight their grandmothers won some 40 odd years ago........
