Plus the fact that old people use most of the healthcare in this country, killing them off will reduce healthcare costs and make it look like Obamacare is working. A double whammy.

Doesn't Faux Noise have by far the highest ratings of any 'cable news' show? Something like more than all the others put together? It is a depressing statistic for sure, but one I hear repeated.

In Megyn Kellys defense, I see that she finds Donald Trump just as odious as four out of five of American women.

Not watching online because at least five on the stage really do give me the willies.

That's true. But the total audience is not that large; cable shows generally underperform the broadcast networks. The major network nightly newscasts get about 2-3 times the viewership of Fox's most popular host Bill O'Reilly.

He did a good job of demonstrating why he's different to the other guys, and standing up for himself too especially against Christie... who really embarrassed himself when he started dragging stuff about hugging 9/11 families into the mix. What a kn0b.

Re: 2016 Election

My thoughts:

I feel like The Donald trounced the others, not really because of anything he said (which was mostly shite) but because he came out and said exactly what he believed... total contrast to the slimy well rehearsed politicians on stage.

Kasich was not really there, Christie... obnoxious, Paul did well but hard to take him seriously, Rubio wasn't very good, Bush came out of it well, Cruz is a good orator but is obviously eeeevil, Carson doesn't sound as bright as he actually probably is, Huckabee is continuing his Fox News persona and Walker didn't make a very good account for himself.

Quite entertaining, a few cringeworthy statements but not enough blood spilt for me.

I missed the first debate with the b-team so I'll probably recap on that tonight.

When's the first Democrat debate?

...

I agree with most of that.

I found it more entertaining than I expected, and I was impressed by the first round of questions - they weren't softballs ... nice and controversial.

Christie really did look ugly. Rand Paul was more outspoken than I expected, but also less impressive in his 'presence'. Cruz was just icky. Carson - weak. Walker - weak. Huckabee - nutty religious b/s (but his stuff about social security was relatively ballsy).

I thought Jeb did quite well, and - I must say, I didn't know he actually came out against his brother's decision to go into Iraq - good for him! He also stood by his comments about 'act of love', which is a great line.

I looked for the 'early' debate (the 'other 7') but couldn't find it on Fox. ETA - sounds like Fiorina had a good showing !

I suspect you looked at the debate from a liberal point of view but the debate was for conservatives.

IMO, Trump will likely lose over half of his support during the next polls and the big winners will be Huckabee, Rubio, and Cruz since they all said what republicans want to hear. Although Kasich expressed his positions very well, that is not what republicans want to hear, Bush didn't have the fire to want to destroy the world, and Walker was a bore so all will likely drop in the next polls.

The NYT's designated reporter, was duly impressed with the way Fox handled the debate, although the faithful readers were, of course, not so much. I agreed with most of his points. It's here for those interested: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/06/op...an-debate.html

Trump's Rule or Ruin stance should turn off all but his most ardent supporters - he will probably go on to run his 3rd Party campaign and hand the election to Hillary.

I thought Rubio spoke well, although his abortion position will lose massive numbers of votes - Roe v Wade is the gift that keeps giving to the Dems.

Bush's statements on the Iraq war may have been principled, but that will also lose support, although he is probably still the designated candidate of the money people.

On balance, over the course of the two debates, only Fiorina stands out as a real contender. It will be very disappointing if she's not in the main event next time.

Vote Bernie! He and Trump share many of the same populist views, but he's not a scumbag.
