In other words, it probably won't be that much different from other elections.
The pundits are so overwhelmed by Trump that they are failing to recognize that his main achievement was taking advantage of a relatively weak and diffuse field of contenders. (The Republicans were convinced that they had a "deep bench," but that proved to be a bad joke.)

If Clinton is smart, then her ground game will be oriented around driving female and minority turnout. A majority of white guys are going to vote Republican, regardless.

The Republican field was complete shit. There was no standout /charismatic candidate.

The ground game. The Clinton's have long time relationships with the black churches, as well as the local governments, in heavily African American districts. These are deep and well tended relationships. Oh, and Hillary has not threatened to throw out all of the Mexicans for being rapists. So she might have some favorability with the Hispanic vote.

As for the quality of the GOP candidates, at least there was some diversity, the Dems, meanwhile, put up 3 career politicians, at least one of them a multi millionaire and all 3 white

So this was on a post elsewhere today.
"In the general election, any vote for Clinton is a vote for Trump."
Maybe its the late hour, but does this statement make any sense to anyone?

A statement like that can only make sense when there are three or more major candidates on the ballot. So far, I only see two, Trump and Clinton. Other candidates are very minor, various socialists etc.

Here's my dilemma, I really do not like Hillary Clinton but Trump even more so.
I know many feel the same as me, but there's something about the woman the gets under my skin. I feel obliged to vote for her as the alternative is catastrophic. For the top of the ticket I'm truly tempted to sit this one out. Only as a last resort if the thing looks close.

Dakota44 has you beaten, but he was born here, so that's quite an advantage

I believe you. I have had at least two weird Trump related dreams. One of which was a quite messed up mash-up with The Walking Dead. The world was ending during a Trump rally. I haven't even been drunk in over a year as well so I don't know where that came from

The only piece of reassurance that I can find for what might happen if Trump did win the general, is that even with a Republican Congress, he'd not be able to get much done, since they don't even really like him either, in the main. Doubly so if the Democrats can win back the House in the next cycle.
I get the sentiment of 'Make America Great Again' and why so many people lap it up, but the execution is all wrong. If one does aspire to make America 'great' it shouldn't be by going back in time. It should be by growing the economy, creating wealth and jobs, improving healthcare, rebuilding the crumbling infrastructure and maintaining an acceptable standard of quality of life for all citizens and residents. Kind of what Sanders is proposing, ironically.

The same African Americans who were bullied into voting for Obama and have subsequently seen their prospects actually get worse under him? Yeah, I'm sure they'll be lining up around the block to vote for Clinton

Maybe it means that Hillary is such a lousy Dem candidate that it's by no means certain at this time that she could beat Trump in November. On the other hand it's believed that Bernie would stand a better chance of beating Trump
