They can have a 4 - 4 decision, with leading opinions on each side. Sometimes, of course, the wettest conservative will side with the liberals to provide a 5 - 3. It almost never, ever, ever, works the other way.

Yes, exactly like that.

Is Scalia already down in the sewer (hell?)? Satan is nothing if not efficient.

Perhaps I wasn't clear ... I was mostly wondering if the calendar is affected or if they go ahead and listen to arguments as scheduled. And, along that line of thought, do they continue to schedule new cases as usual?

Be nice, FlavaFlav hasn't been this upset since Reagan popped his clogs. Maybe even since McCarthy had his last drink.

Nope. He was a high level slime ball. One less bigoted homophobe stinking up my country is a good thing. Good riddance to bad trash.

Yes, and yes.

You have been asked to do the Eulogy?

Yeah, I'm working on it right now. How are my trial balloons tracking so far?

I suspect they will hear it. In a 4 to 4 tie...the lower courts decision stands. So if the Stae of Texas is appealing an unfavorable lower court decision ... a tie would be good.

No, quite the opposite. It's a wash though. If they tie at this point then, had Scalia not shuffled off his mortal coil, they would have definitely upheld the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals decision.

My mistake. I imagined the lower courts decision was favorable against further restrictions.

Interestingly...Scalia and Ginsburg were close friends. The two couples even occasionally vacationed together. Talk about apples and oranges.

No biggee. I don't expect everybody everywhere to know about the nightmare that's been visited upon women's right to choose in Texas over the past few years. I do find this unexpected turn of events to be fascinating though.
