Re: 2016 Election
Romney had money coming out of his ear 'oles but that didn't get him to the White House

Re: 2016 Election
Romney was notoriously stingy with his own money though. The Clintons are even worse, they'd rather take a beating than use their own money to campaign.

Re: 2016 Election
Sniffing the political air my keen sense of perception leads me to believe that America is ready for it's first female President. This female is smart, intelligent and has cajones.
As for the Republicans I can never understand why that party has lasted so long. Even in the days of the Great Depression during the early 1930s it's leading members were ranting against Roosevelt's New Deal at a time when millions were without jobs or homes and riding around the country in railroad freight cars.
It hasn't changed much since then. Here you have Ted Cruz yelping about dismantling the Affordable Health Care Act and doing away with the IRS and replacing it with a flat tax which even an idiot should know will only mean a big tax break for the wealthiest and in turn depriving the struggling middle class of the tax breaks that come for example with home ownership.
Even more puzzling is why so many elderly white Americans who are far and away from affluence themselves keep voting for them. This is a trend that happens in the mid west. Is it something to do with religion and Evangelicalism ? My guess it has some connection. I've driven through Kansas and Nebraska and there were times when it was impossible to pick up any radio station that was not a bible media outlet

Re: 2016 Election
It was also reported that he has millions stashed away in the tax free Cayman Islands
One requirement that should be made for anyone who is elected President is that all monies held overseas by him or her in tax free havens should immediately be transferred back to the United States and held in the US until term of office is finished

I agree with you but it's a case of trying to make a wiser choice. The true Romney was uncovered after a secretly taped speech he gave at a fund raiser went public but you probably know about that already.

Which of course applies to the rest of us but the leader of the nation should not be allowed to have a few million stashed away overseas in tax havens which boils down to avoiding taxation even if it is legal. He's supposed to set an example in all things

If something is legal and permitted under the law, what example is there to set exactly?

Should not be legal. So much hypocrisy. Hilary and Bernie harp on about the inequities of the system which they claim allows the wealthiest to avoid paying what they really should be paying in income tax and maybe Hilary and Bernie do make public their own tax returns but does anyone know how much money, if any is tucked away in tax free havens? Is this made public? Shouldn't it be subject to tax if they are elected to office?
We all need to share the pain including those who spout on the loudest about the undertaxed one percent

If you have money in a deposit account in an offshore jurisdiction, you still have to pay US tax on it. Surely, if you're POTUS, you're even less likely than any other citizen to attempt to illegally avoid tax. It's legal to have money deposited abroad. It is not in any way immoral, underhand or unamerican to have money deposited abroad.

It's not efficient on income, as the rate would have to be low to not destroy the poor (which creates a situation where higher earners don't sufficiently contribute).

Which brings up the very inconvenient mater that at tax time roughly %47 of tax 'payers' owe NO Federal tax, none.
