Re: 2016 Election
Gordon may be a "polite" poster but he has consistently, and with great frequency, went out of his way to drive BE traffic away from this forum and onto these dodgy websites. Some which actually are pro-Russian propaganda sites --- as has been pointed out before. Others seem to just be hack-job conspiracy sites.
Most of us have a rudimentary understanding of how web traffic works. The more clicks - the more ad money for a site. We also know that when somebody clicks one of Barlow's links, the website linked can see from where the new viewers are originating --- in this case, British Expats.
We all post links now and then, and maybe Gordon isn't breaking any BE rules, but I don't think it's out of line for other posters to question his strange behavior.

I don't think his behaviour is that strange... link dumping's purpose is as you explain, which is why many sites (not BE) prohibit it. Worse, it adds nothing to the discourse on BE; how many times has "Gordon Barlow" entered into debate about his "claims"? Next to none, I believe.

The continuing story about Trump's foundation is fascinating. If you don't follow David Fahrenthold (@fahrenthold) you should.

I think it is odd how a supposed billionaire needs to raid his foundation for a mere quarter million in legal fees. Unless he is flat broke?

Even so, it does not change the fact that using the foundation's money for personal things is illegal.

The apparent origin of the skittles meme is quite interesting.

Re: 2016 Election
I'm okay with not eating any Syrian refugees.
The tweet has a very different tone if you replace "Syrian refugee" with "gun owner". Not that i am disparaging gun owners here, just pointing out that dismissing everyone due to isolated examples works with people you like as much as those you fear.
Anyway, more people have died from eating Skittles in the US than from terrorist attacks by refugees.

A short article from The Economist about how retweets from "Russia Today" - the government-funded Russian site that Gordon Barlow frequently links to from here - are made by a more limited set of people than is the case for the BBC and NY Times:
