Re: Gibraltar
I think you've got it............What are the backs of your hands like? It's still a secret process but the numbers are increasing as people find this latest way of resolving their problems in life. Regression! Soon, as their numbers grow, tourists will be encouraged to feed them.

He was after all, the person who posted photos and alerted us all to the electric Tesla car that the Socialist First Minister of Gibraltar, Fabian Picardo, had imported at vast expense from California to run around the roads of the 2.3 square miles of Gibraltar. A fat cat political story like this in the British press would run for months. The Gibraltar Press - zilch.
By the way, similar people associated with 'No. 6' (the Gibraltar version of 'No. 10') have managed to get around similarly sized "Villages" perfectly happily in these -

the "Truth on the rock" made me smile....
Btw., Have you seen the price of Mokes lately, a few more years and they will cost more than 2nd hand Teslas. Diverging slightly, what happens to 2nd hand electric cars, does the bottom fall out of them, market wise or literally? The batteries are Lithium, if they split or are ruptured in an accident the Lithium will spontaneously ignite on contact with air. I wonder how many have been involved in serious accidents to date.

Re: Gibraltar
I am particularly averse to electronic gaming.- as in betting against a computer or electronic one arm bandit type machines. The only exception might be when it can be classed as just a bit of fun like eg. Single play, maximum stake 10 cents, Max payout 5Euros. No automatic playing and minimum 30 seconds between games. The fact that all the Biggies in gaming/betting etc are based in Gib stinks to my mind. The fact that they are Biggies does not console me. In Italy they had an almost 1billion Euro fine, which was magically reduced to under a million by the socialists.
All sports and betting carry high taxes there but the electronic slot machines have an odd tax which is under 9% and betting/gaming on the net with companies outside of Italy is Illegal.
M
Just for clarity it was not really a fine, it was back taxes which had not been paid.

Re: Gibraltar
I agree, there is already talk in the UK of changing the rules limiting advertising, payouts and the frequency between bets.

Spanish Ambassador summoned - Cameron tells Rajoy there cannot be a repeat of last summer's queues
Date: 17 July 2014
The Foreign Office has summoned the Spanish Ambassador to the UK to underline serious concern at the activity of a Spanish Navy vessel in international waters off Gibraltar yesterday.
This morning the Panorama & Chronicle newspapers reported that the Spanish Navy issued instructions to at least two commercial vessels heading for the port of Gibraltar, dissuading them from doing so.
This is the fifth time the Spanish Ambassador has been publicly summoned in relation to Gibraltar since the current Spanish government took office in December 2011.
FCO STATEMENT ON TRILLO SUMMONING
The full statement by the FCO is available here:
The FCO summoned the Spanish Ambassador to the UK to underline serious concern at the activity of a Spanish Navy vessel in international waters off Gibraltar yesterday.
Last night the Prime Minister also raised Gibraltar with Prime Minister Rajoy in the margins of the EU Council meeting. He made clear to Mr Rajoy that there must not be a repeat of last summer’s disruption.
Speaking before the summoning of the Spanish Ambassador, His Excellency Federico Trillo, the Minister for Europe, the Rt Hon David Lidington MP, said:
“I am extremely concerned by the actions of a Spanish Navy vessel which sought to redirect two commercial vessels heading to and from the Port of Gibraltar, incorrectly claiming they were in Spanish waters. The vessels were in international waters off Gibraltar, and the actions of the Spanish Navy vessel constitute a breach of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Freedom of navigation in international waters is a vital principle of international law. The two commercial vessels, under instructions from Gibraltar port authorities, were able to continue their business uninterrupted. But this represents a cynical attempt by the Spanish government to disrupt Gibraltar’s economy, in contravention of international Iaw.
I strongly condemn this provocative activity and urge the Spanish government to ensure that it is not repeated. Her Majesty’s Government will continue to take whatever action we consider necessary to uphold the interests of Gibraltar, its people, its security and economy.”

Re: Gibraltar
I would have thought the rate-payers of Gibraltar would have had enough bad news - having to fork out the best part of 200 grand to import an electric car from California for "Porque Picardo" to travel the roads of 2.3 square miles of Gibraltar. Especially as their power station blew up earlier this year.
As Daniel Feetham, opposition leader in the Gibraltarian parliament put it -
“Perhaps the next time the leader of the New Dawn socialists is near the Primary Care Centre he should pop in and explain to those people waiting to see a doctor why he is overspending in his own office, staff and travel whilst they wait to see a doctor,” said Mr Feetham who said the over spending would have covered ten new doctors".
Welding a flagstaff to the front probably detracts from the resale value of the car as well.

Re: Gibraltar
Unfortunately there was bad news for the Spaniards.
They had to wait 2 to 3 hours at the frontier tonight before their fellow countrymen would allow them in. Luckily the temperature was only in the high 20's
That will teach those nasty English not to summon the Spanish Ambassador for a chat

The vehicle is being supplied via Bassadone Motors on lease terms and the cost to the Government will be approximately £300 per month, with an option to purchase after three years.
