the UK is more "multicultural" because it is built around the fear of the R Word. People walk away from conversations rather than say what they want to say. People go around looking and listening for the racist comment - in English. Whilst others rely on the English lack of languages to make racist comments which cause sniggers amongst those who do know, leaving the English feeling the odd one out in their own country.

Remember the guy at the airport who made a comment about a woman in a hijab, theoretically a conversation between 2 people, but another person either overheard or was told of the comment and made a complaint which cost him several hours and his flight.

It used to be possible to pay a woman a compliment but now that isnt allowed, it is sexist.

Germany Portugal final. Would be nice to see Spain do it again though but I think Portugal will be too determined for Spain tomorrow.

My wife spent 2 weeks in Kent on an English speaking course when she was 16. In that time her and her friends were told to "F off home you F*ing Sp*s" by a bunch of lads in a car who then mounted the pavement as if they were going to run them over. A middle aged woman at a bus stop also told her and her friend to "F*ing speak English"

Like I've said before, UK is no racial utopia, the press should look closer to home instead of always insisting how racists "backward" European countries are.
How did the lads know they were Spaniards if that's what Sp*s" means?

Back in N.E.England at the minute, so more active on the forum than normal due to the rainy weather.
That's my excuse anyway.

I can generally tell Spanish visitors in a UK street by two measures - one they talk louder, two they look a bit smarter than say the French. Although it has to be said all young people's fashions are starting to look the same to me..

They were in a part of Kent where many young Spanish people go to learn English so I guess the locals dont like them

Good job the locals dont treat the Brits like that in Spain!

Anyway, back to football. I go for a Spain Italy final. The Germans are overrated.

2-0 to Spain tonight

Spain make it to the final..just. They did seem stronger by extra time, so probably a fair result. Could have been a different story if Ronaldo had put his chance away.

Must only be Spanish language schools there, otherwise the average village thicko could never tell the difference between say, Italians, Portuguese, French, Greeks etc
