Was he hoping to further boost his over inflated ego by scoring the winner and become a national hero ?
On the other hand judging by the quality of his free kicks,(100% for presentation, 1% for quality), he may well have ended up with egg on his chin.

Pleased the Germans are gone.
Should make for an interesting final.
Spain will need to turn up to win it. They've been a bit sloppy the last two games.
Justice for Balotelli as well after the abuse he's had thrown at him.
To be hoped the Spanish fans can behave themselves during the final.

Any predictions for tonight?
I make the likely winners 55% Italy 45% Spain. Italy are coming on strong, although Spain also started to click in extra time against Portugal.
It may come down to who exploits the few chances at goal - Balotelli or Torres (if he gets a chance to play).
A por ellos, España!

I rate the game 50/50 myself, however if Italy pull it off, it will make England look like a good team,...
.....only on paper of course.

Spain will win by a goal or two tonight, Lets say 2-1
That will seal Spain's reputation as the best generation to have ever played international football - 3 tournament wins in a row, never been done before
Then they will rebuild before the next world cup with Xavi and Puyol retiring and Torres discarded. The rest of the players are still young enough for another 2-6 years

Well if the Spanish are as confident as CM and they still lose tonight - there'll be an inquisition..
