It is possible for Australian citizen to return to Australia with a foreign passport.

There were no issues with the rrv in that foreign passport during the checking in and boarding the airline...

I understand your comments, that is why i wrote 'valid' instead of valid in my response. What i meant by 'valid' here is the travel period mentioned in the rrv sticker has not expired.

I agree with the two previous posters, better to avoid the hassles. But, it is still doable for an Australian citizen to come to back to Australia with a foreign passport that has the 'valid' rrv.
