Re: Moving back to UK - 20 years in Brisbane

We moved back from Tas to the UK two years ago.

We used Allied for the move, no problems and helpful staff at either end.

We moved our money via Wise as they gave the best final sum after...

Re: When to move money

Incorrect. There is no tax on savings but savings interest will be assessable for tax at your marginal rate.

Re: UK Tax on Australian Super?

When you become tax resident in the UK, you are taxed on your worldwide income. Your super income stream is taxable as foreign income.

The way we got around this when we returned to the UK was to...

Re: Moving money from one country to another

Another vote for Wise.

Been using them for several years, and last year easily moved a seven-figure sum from Australia back to the UK as part of our move back.

Re: Returning to UK from Canada - No Claims Discount

We went with Aviva. No documentary evidence of no-claims was asked for, they just took our word for it, and their premium was competitive.

Re: Moving back to UK - car insurance

Aviva and NFU Mutual are recommended often on here.
Aviva-provide this (https://www.aviva.co.uk/faq/answer/motor/425/) as proof of NCD.

Re: GC Partners

Whenever I compare rates, Wise usually beats OFX. e.g. sending AUD 500,000 to GBP, OFX gets you £265,100, Wise= £265,945 (doing a comparison as I write this).

We'll be transferring our house...

Re: XE, Torfx etc.

Interesting.
I just logged in to both my OFX and Wise accounts and did a simultaneous comparison.
On AUD 100,000 to GBP, OFX=52,750, Wise= 53198 i.e. +0.85% better.
On AUD 500,000 to GBP,...

Re: XE, Torfx etc.

I used to use OFX but I usually find that Wise (formerly Transferwise) give me a better rate. We'll be transferring house sale proceeds and super balances to the UK from Aus this way.
