That 750 000 place is a very poor example of property in Mandurah. I live in an oldish(20 years) part of Halls Head in a nice cul de sac, 5 minutes walk...

Don't want to get your hopes up but both my wife and daughter had severe reactions to mozzies in both South Africa and the UK (bumps and blisters)- almost no reaction to the mozzies here.

I also did almost exactly the same work as you did in the UK (except for poles). Work is quite hard to come by in your field at the moment. Telstra jobs are quite rare as most jobs are...
