Default Tom tom trouble

Any idea why my sat nav (tom tom 720) has decided it can't find certain streets that have been around for years?

I've tried automatic updates and it says there aren't any.

Try resetting it. There should be a hole where you can jab a paperclip up inside. Failing that hold the on/off button down for a few seconds and it should restart

Why would it just omit certain streets though?

are you sure the streets were ever there in the first place (in the nav unit).

There are heaps of streets that do not make their way into digital street directories, mostly for bureaucratic govt reasons

Whats newer version got to do with owt, the roads have been there years and if i drive to the road it shows up on my map. Its just that if i try and select the road as a destination it can't find it.

Regardless of wether roads have been there for years or not, a newer version of the software should have any bugs or glitches ironed out plus you get the added bonus of updated maps. Failing that try deleting the maps off your unit and reinstalling them from your back up CD. It does sound like you have more of a software issue than a hardware problem.

Thnaks but i fail to understand why a version from two years ago wouldn't have roads on that have been there for years.
I think i'll try the CD route you mentioned, how do you go about deleting whats already on the unit?

There should be a more updated version that the 2 year old one you are running. You can check here http://www.tomtom.com/latestmap/

You'll find out how to delete and reinstall here http://www.filesaveas.com/tomtomgo720.html
