Re: Patak's sauces - Are they REALLY made in the UK? - My curry still tastes inferior

Re: Patak's sauces - Are they REALLY made in the UK? - My curry still tastes inferior

That's interesting, thanks. I've never been to a chocolate factory before though I remember one that used to exist in the back streets of Redfern, between Pitt & George Sts. It had a very distinctive...

Re: Patak's sauces - Are they REALLY made in the UK? - My curry still tastes inferior

I'm grateful for your insight. I understand now, that when someone goes back to the UK and says something like 'Thank God, I can get a decent curry now,' all they are doing is remembering the English...

Re: Patak's sauces - Are they REALLY made in the UK? - My curry still tastes inferior

You misunderstand my point. I've had memorable meals all over the world and I enjoyed my food when I lived in the UK BUT can no longer remember what things tasted like there compared to here.

When...

Re: Patak's sauces - Are they REALLY made in the UK? - My curry still tastes inferior

I actually agree with your last sentence. That is the way I feel too. In fact, on Monday night, after a very good (as usual) red chicken curry, cooked by 'real' Thais (I think.), I then had Twix for...

Re: Patak's sauces - Are they REALLY made in the UK? - My curry still tastes inferior

But wouldn't those Indians who were 'just off the boat' here, have already been cooking all their lives in India? Unless of course 'real' Indian cooking is not as good as British Indian cooking but...

Re: Sydney or Brisbane. I have to decide tonight!!

Why not? I thought the decision had to be made by 'tonight'? Personally, my money is on Brisbane.

Re: Patak's sauces - Are they REALLY made in the UK? - My curry still tastes inferior

That is very interesting because some Poms claim that Indian restaurants in England make better curries than Indian restaurants in Australia.

Assuming that the Indians who come to Australia are as...

Patak's sauces - Are they REALLY made in the UK? - My curry still tastes inferior?

I was both surprised and pleased to find Patak's products in Coles. It says it's made in the UK and it looks the same. Is there something wrong with Australian rice and / or Australian chicken. Why...

Re: sydney or melbourne ?

Two big cities, both with four million people. Try one or try both. There is no right or wrong choice.

Re: Brisbane to Sydney drive

Maybe Taree, or go down the New England Highway for a change and stop at a couple of places - Tamworth - Armadale, whatever. It does not matter which town I stop at, they all have something...

Re: Sydney or Brisbane. I have to decide tonight!!

]

I bought a jar of Patak's curry sauce - made in the UK of course, and cooked what I thought was a perfectably acceptable chicken curry with rice. Do the Aussies do something weird to their...

That park I mentioned in Tempe, can't remember the name of the road but it's off the Prince's Highway. It's not practical for everyone but I dropped my brother off at the terminal, then drove there...

Re: Sydney - Commuting from Campbelltown to Mascot

Thanks, I was sure I paid a high fare from Central to Mascot a few months back. Don't know why they don't reduce the fare to the airport and see if a few more people would go there. Sometimes I drive...

Re: Sydney - Commuting from Campbelltown to Mascot

Mascot isn't one of those stations where they put the prices up like International & Domestic is it? I've got my suspicions about it?

Why not live around East Hills/Panania/Revesby if you can...

Re: How else can I look for a job?

Some companies don't use Seek or agencies but recruit directly - look up their websites - eg Coles, Woolies, Bunnings???

I've been here and enjoyed it too. Recommended by my Pommie football fan mates and they don't seem to think Aussie Indian is inferior to Pommie Indian.

Personally I prefer a Thai Green or Red...
