There is an election in a few months .do you honestly think that the views of a few non voters will have any effect. You should forget Wfa and focus on voting rights for expats.

Correct the vast amjority of those who move to or back to the UK are a benefit to the UK economy unlike those who take their wealth abroad but still expect benefits from the UK.

Enjoy the unnecessary involvement in UK affairs for the time it will last. Like so much of the UK.s relationship with the EU originally " freedom of movement ," mean,t just that and no more.

I live in the UK for 7 months year and in Portugal for 5 ( most of the winter as we save approx 70% of our UK winter heating costs ) if that has got anything to do with this.

If expats are unhappy...

You are right the qualifying age is now 62 so the gap between qualifying for WFA and receiving the OAP under the new rules is still significant. Note a 62 year old man may no longer receive the OAP...

As part of the EU if Spanish, Portuguese pensioners etc receive reciprocal treatment when in the UK then the current arrangements should continue.
But on the subject of WFP this is paid once you...

Why. Here in the Algarve it has been up to 20 degrees and the average winter temp rarely approaches that of the UK. Our heating bill is Max 30% of that when we are back in the UkVery few if any UK...

The UK figure used is for the SW of England ,the warmest part of the UK.

Anyone expat who did not receive WFP before 2012 knew what the rules were and still moved so what have they got to complain...

The reason why so many epats receive WFP is because of an EU ruling.
It is decisions like this which is why there is so much antipathy against the EU in the UK.
I cannot see the current government...

Time will tell.as far as EU rulings influencing discretional payments such as Wfa in the current climate I would not bank on that. Remember the UK electorate will be only too pleased to see Wfa...

The report states that the amendment will soon be part of UK law. Are you saying that the report is wrong ?. Wfa will be just one or two lines in a huge finance bill that will be voted through...
