Re: Help needed with Melbourne PR salary!

Hi there,

I am in the PR industry too although at an officer level. It would be interesting to hear from others what the best agencies are to approach in the PR industry and at which level...

Re: Getting M&S Tea Cakes in the USA (not UK mail order)

Hi,

Re: have any of you changed the way you say your name for an easier life.

Re: What's the secret to great paella?

Socarrat is NOT meant to be one huge black lump that tastes fully burnt, but smaller, crispy bites, that got stuck to the pan.
Yes to the right type of rice, etc.
The strangest variation I heard is...

Re: What's the secret to great paella?

I am from Valencia - I make sure I have some whenever I visit back!

Re: Thick hot chocolate

Hi there,

Valor is the name of the brand you are after. The packaging used to be long and thin white and red stripes, kind of thing, and it was sold in the main supermarkets. They also have their...

Re: House exchange

Hi there,

I have used Home for Exchange to good results in the past. It is not free, but it is good value for money (I think it was less than £30 for 18 months, so as long as you stay somewhere...

Re: Anyone experiencing reverse culture shock?

I have been out of Spain for nearly 10 years. I moved here when I was in my 20s and had been an anglophile for many years. I didn't know anything, but it didn't seem to matter at the time: cashback,...

Smile Re: Doing a PGCE outside of Britain

I wonder if the OP considered doing the Spanish equivalent of a PGCE? It used to be called CAP and it lasted about 6 months, I didn't do it but the opinion from friends at the time was that it wasn't...

Re: Cost of living - can anyone explain Spanish families' survival?

There are Wetherspoons here, and I have used them when I needed a quick meal on the cheap. But the problem tends to be that many of them are not somewhere where I would like to sit down and relax for...

Re: Cost of living - can anyone explain Spanish families' survival?

As someone said, things get passed around families a lot more, and people have traditionally bought fewer things on credit. I was brought up in Spain and we didn't have a proper sofa for ten years,...

Re: Flights from UK - Vancouver

Hi,

Meant a train ride, on something called Amtrak Cascades, which will hopefully be less stressful than some of the trains here!
Yes, I wouldn't do it without staying in a hotel - not looking...

Re: Flights from UK - Vancouver

We found it worked out cheaper for us to fly Heathrow to Seattle, then it's a 3-4 hour ride away. The savings mean we can treat ourselves to a budget weekend in Seattle and explore the city.:)
