QROPS and 5 year rule

I understand the 5 year rule counts in 5 completed tax years since the QROPS pension was transfered.

My question - after the 5 years are you allowed to access your pension free from a UK tax...

But the problem is.... Barclays have just shut down my UK bank accounts although they had previously been quite happy with our Australian addresses for the last 15 years, they are not the only banks...

UK HMRC cheque

Barclays have closed down our UK accounts.
HMRC issued a tax refund in sterling and sent it to our Australian address. Westpac will no longer process sterling cheques and I am unable now to pay it...

HMRC will pay our pension into an australian bank.... but they issue a tax refund via a cheque in sterling, a pain in the butt

Yep I have had the same problem too - Barclays have closed all 3 of my uk accounts. Now I am stuck as I have a UK sterling cheques sent by HMRC to us here in Australia - the banks dont seem to accept...

Unfortunately this seems to happen in every state or territory. I know one who had worked in the NT for many years and it took her over 6 months to get her Queensland teacher registration sorted out...

As I stated above, we got ours in 13 days.
Definitely shipped from the UK, although initially I think Auspost sends them to Canberra. - arrived via DHL in an envelope with London Heathrow - Darwin...

Been doing a little research.
There are loads of places in the northern suberbs for between $600 and $700 per week rent.
Even found this one


62 Parer Drive, Wagaman, NT 0810 at $820 per week...

I live in Darwin - applied Oct 28th last year, test on Nov 13th but had to wait until I think April for the ceremony.
OH applied June this year, test in July and currently waiting...

We moved here 5 years ago. A leap into the unknown - but we were ready for a change. We have loved it, suffered in our first wet, but now find only a few days a year unbearable, but the pool helps!...

I have read that moneycorp would do 20k at a time, and can pay on the debit card so will give this a go.
Doing the telegraphic transfer through barclays would cost me around 4K in their poor...

We were pretty happy with Dripstone Middle School in the northern suberbs. All I can say is you really need to visit them personally, we did that, had a good feeling about the place, liked the head...

Managed to finally sell house in the uk after 3 and 1/2 years, 90 k less than originally valued but thats another story.

Well you have my sympathy. Did my back in over 3 years ago at work, resulting in surgery and now a permanant loss of career and a life on painkillers. Still on workers comp and on a job placement....

My son at 12 took nearly three months to settle in - tears every day, not wanting to get out of the car etc.
The school was very supportive.
In the end he went himself to see the deputy principle...
