Teacher Employment Question
My wife is a teacher and she has just got a job new School they are asking for Statements of service.
We have not actually been back in the UK for a long time. Lived in Canada for a long time.
How do UK teachers supply this info?
We have tried t explain, but they are steadfast in this requirement. With out it my wife will be more or less on a new teacher wage.
Sometimes in Australia they just do not want to admit and recognise that people in other parts of the worked have different processes and systems
I mean. She is currently working in QLD and has registration with the QCT, QLD college of Teachers. But has to also now to take a job in Darwin NT, complete the college of teachers in NT. They say is it mutual and reciprocal. But it is not...
We love the country but sometimes it is just so hard...
Anyway i really look forward to hearing from any teachers out their who may be able to assist
Many Thanks

Re: Teacher Employment Question
This is a common practice throughout the world. The trick is to get a letter or "Certificate of Service" when you leave a job so that in future you can prove that you have "X" years of service as a teacher. Withouut these a teacher is often condemned to an entry-level salary. You can try contacting schools wher you taught years ago but I do not hold out much hope !

Re: Teacher Employment Question
Unfortunately this seems to happen in every state or territory. I know one who had worked in the NT for many years and it took her over 6 months to get her Queensland teacher registration sorted out when she got a job there. Another NT qualified who took about 6 months to get her Victorian teacher registration when she moved there at xmas. In my view one of the problems of a federal system.... why cant they sort out the qualifications to be automatic in every state?
