I got mine within 10 days of applying on arrival - they have to link your passport number with immigration to make sure you've actually entered Australia so you need to wait until you're here.

I got my documents back about a week after I got my passports back with the visa in them. I got everything back, including the copies of the birth certificates I sent and photos.

They're granting pretty quickly at the moment - our app took 3.5 weeks and 2 weeks of that was waiting for a police check from Australia.

Thanks for your thoughts JAJ - I have sole custody / residency with the right to decide where the children live and ex DH signed a Stat Dec confirming he was happy for them too live in Australia...

I did it in Sept without any problems at all. It did cost me per person (I was getting certified copies of the passports done for the application) but there wasn't any problems with processing it.
