Re: IECs and LMIAs

I'm following up my original post seeking more advice for my son. Despite my son's employer saying they would apply for an LMIA for him, through the layers of management of a large company, the...

IECs and LMIAs

My son, whose RO (Registered Organisation) IEC work permit ends June this year, has been a full-time employee for a large Canadian firm since February 2022. It was an advertised job which he applied...

Re: Corona and IEC awaiting entry.

The reason I suggest the Facebook page is that the legislation around the IEC is changing so much it's hard to keep track. At the moment, with an IEC, you won't get in without proof of a valid job...

Re: Corona and IEC awaiting entry.

My son has had a 3 month extension to his PoE entry date. What I would suggest is joining an excellent Facebook page called O Canada! IEC Discussion & Support. There are 16.9K members and so many...

Re: Seeking advice - Canadian Work Visa

As Siouxie said, don't waste your money on an immigration consultant. There is nothing they can do for you that you can't do yourself and don't listen to them if they tell you otherwise.

As for...

Re: IEC insurance - COVID19 - CBSA/General

Excerpt below now been posted on https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/iec.html. Insurance providers I've tried are saying they won't cover for...

Re: Corona and IEC awaiting entry.

I think there is some ambiguity in whether an IEC qualifies as a temporary work permit (in these circumstances) - checking this out at the moment. However, the bigger worry is insurance. I read...

Re: Corona and IEC awaiting entry.

My son's in a similar position, although he needs to enter by 24th June  so I'm monitoring closely. He had a Skype interview almost a couple of weeks before they closed the borders, but the...

Re: Voluntarily cancel student visa and apply graduate visa

What a pity no-one's replied to your post. I'm afraid I don't know the answer myself, but hope you get an answer soon.

Re: How do you find out why you were refused?

Thank you. I had read about some dreadful immigration lawyers on this forum before I went down that route. The only reason I did is that the list had become so restricted and we were running out of...

How do you find out why you were refused?

Can anyone help me with either an email or postal address for CIC that will reply to me and tell me why my skilled worker application was refused?

As a family we applied via the Federal Skilled...

I too am appalled. We paid ££££s to Paul. Thankfully via credit card. Since we submitted our application my husband and I have since separated and I wanted to stop the application and get some...

Re: moving from highlands of scotland to Regina

I can't give you any practical advice James as I've never been to Regina, but, as a fellow Scot, still in Scotland, who has been dithering about emigrating for years, I would advise you to go for it....

Re: Advice re son's plans for study in Canada?

I take your point, thank you. ;)

That's more his mother's fault than his. I guess I need to untie the apron strings a little? It's never an easy thing to do

Thank you christmasoompa. Yes, sorry, getting my terminology wrong. I meant PR. I'll investigate IEC for him.

Thanks again.

Re: Changes to 'the list' of 38 (FSW visas) imminent!

The consultation is open to the public and there is an online form you can fill in via the link above. May not influence the final outcome, but at least it will give you a voice. I filled one in...

Re: Skiing Calgary

If you go Calgary-Banff (1 1/2 hrs), then Banff-Calgary again (1 1/2hrs) then Calgary-Edmonton (3hrs), you've already done a 4 1/2hr drive to get to Edmonton and backtracked and missed out on one of...

What is your planned route? If you are going over to Sunshine (excellent ski classes) and staying over there, are you going up to Edmonton via Jasper? If so, long drive (although the most scenic...

Re: Work Experience & References

As you'll know, when you're an IT contractor, the company you worked for has absolutely nothing to gain by giving you a reference so it's unlikely you'll get what you need.
