Re: India Intermediary bank charges for money transfer

Happened to me too while sending GBP to USD from HSBC to HSBC via Wise. HSBC have an intermediary bank they don't mention, charging $25. Probably the same charge for you.

Re: Anybody Currently Teaching in a British School, UAE.

I'm not in your specific area of the teaching game, but I was in the UAE for twenty years. You're looking at a top-end salary of about 20,000AED a month, I think.
Don't imagine saving anything in...

Re: Opinion on AD salary package

I think, as a rule, the basic should be about two-thirds of your total monthly take-home pay, but this may be changing. I don't mean to put you off, by the way. I don't regret my time spent in the...

Re: Opinion on AD salary package

Having just left after a long time in the sandpit, doing something similar to yourself in the large vocational college system, I can say that as long as your wife gets some work, you'll be fine on...

Re: Flying from NL to UK

Hi RWF. Well, we're here now in the UK. There doesn't seem to be any real teeth to the checking, though you do have to declare on a form where you have been and where you will stay and with whom. But...

Re: Flying from NL to UK

Sorry, I really wasn't clear, apologies. We are already here in the Netherlands but need to go to the UK just to help our son settle into his accommodation on campus. This really shouldn't take 14...

Flying from NL to UK

Hi there,
Has anyone done this recently? May be a silly question, but since NL is on UK's quarantine list, does that mean if we visited we would have to stay a minimum of the 14 days of...

Re: Shipping companies Doha

We've just flown to Europe with four boxes approx 75x45x35 and four big cases, for three people. Excess cost was about 2000 AED. It's scary but doable. Just buy lots of tape and bubble wrap in C4!

Re: Customs declaration when moving with personal items.

Thanks for the input, much appreciated. Think on arrival we'll just declare we have some stuff and see what they say.

Customs declaration when moving with personal items.

Hi folks,
Does anyone have experience of customs declaration requirements when moving to the Netherlands from a non-EU country?
We've just got some rugs and personal effects in excess luggage, but...

Covid cert at DXB T1

Has anyone flown out of DXB Terminal 1 recently? Where exactly are you required to show your Covid certificate? It seems it's only Emirates and Etihad that are asking for the cert. KLM isn't asking...

Re: Shipping cargo from Riyadh to London

Are you going back soon yourself? It would be comparable price-wise to take it as extra baggage on the flight with you.

Re: Health Insurance after let go

Thanks for the recommendations, will check them out. We've used worldwideinsure before for car insurance on holiday, might look at that too. Seven Corners is another one. None of them cover COVID of...

Re: Advice On Transferring Money/FX

I used TransferWise recently and find their rates much better than the banks and exchange houses. Takes a day to do the transfer, you send to their bank in the UK and they send it on to yours here....
