Re: Estepona - Manilva - Sabinillas

We've been in Manilva for a year now, having spent 6 years in Marbella and then London before that.

It's quite a change! Very quiet, very incestuous but lovely all the same. Duquesa Port is...

Re: Olive firewood

We pay 60€ for a cubic metre, delivered and "dumped" in a nice tidy pile in the back garden.

Manilva

Has anyone lived there or knows anyone currently living there?

Thinking of moving (/investing) down the coast a little and the prices seem a lot on the low side so I'm wondering why. I know...

Re: Self employed income tax rate?

If only! I'm yet to meet a person that had a SL that's gone bad that hasn't been personally liable for any debts. Unlike the UK it seems common practice to come after you personally for anything and...

Re: living in marbella

Yup, bright pink and green.. can't miss it!

ECI is where the big copper tower is if you were to walk toward Banus, 10 mins from you.

We have a decent group of people that we've acquired over...

Re: living in marbella

Have lived here for 6 1/2 years or so I guess now - time flies!! Used to live down on Ricardo Soriano and was out all the time but now have had to grow up a tiny little bit with the addition of a...

Re: living in marbella

Do you mean Calle Las Palmeras, just up from the Copper Tower toward the bus station on the right hand side? If so then yes, it used to have quite a reputation (mainly for housing quite a few...

Re: 125cc Moped

If you'll travel to Marbella can recommend Ortiz Motos. Really friendly, really helpful and price matched (and chucked in some bits) on a new Honda PCX 125 that I got two years ago. It's a godsend...

Re: Sierra Nevada

We go up there 4 or 5 times every year and I've never seen a Police check. The one and only time we stayed overnight (we normally just check the webcam in the morning and drive up if it's sunny and...

Re: Marbella.. What's it like to live in and where would you live?

I'd stay away from the front line apartments if you want to feel like you live there and aren't on holiday. Most of those places (unless you're paying stupid money) are just setup for short term...

Re: Retirement home in Marbella

Sorry, I've no idea where the Coffee Dock is? Is it one of those ghastly places in the Irish Quarter of town?

It's probably a 20+ minute walk down to the paseo/beach, then add around 20+ minutes...

Re: Retirement home in Marbella

What do you want to know about it?

It's quite a walk to anywhere, you'd need to drive everywhere unless you like very long walks. Pretty quiet and generally a higher standard of accommodation (and...

Re: Retirement home in Marbella

Well, it's not Central Marbella for one!

Other than that it's a bit of an expat ghetto and pretty dead apart from Centro Plaza. Lots of Puerto Banus wannabe's tend to live there and, generalising...

Re: Retirement home in Marbella

Bear in mind anything with underground parking is seemingly more designed for cars the size of the original Mini to get into!

If you don't mind driving into town for a few minutes you have a much...

Re: Retirement home in Marbella

Based on helping out a friend last week:

500-600 gets you a semi decent 2 bed in central Marbella, though tricky to find this time of year obviously!

700-800 can get you a 3 bed

800-1200...

Re: Retirement home in Marbella

Proper central Marbella isn't that expensive really, but based on the 15-20 places we looked at a few years ago all the apartments are generally quite nasty, old fashioned and dark places without a...

Re: British Child Passport for birth in Spain

What details are you looking for?

It was all really easy to do (apart from trying to take an acceptable photo of a 6 month old!); download the guidance notes and then just fill in their clever PDF...
