Re: Unemployment July 2009

Of course I'd rather be a worker in Aus. My point was unemployment has gone up 50% here and the US in the last 12 months. The US is supposed to be a basket case regarding their economy but the rate...

Re: interest rates on the up......it seems

Correct. Residex is in the business of selling property data reports. It's in their interests to always be postitive and upbeat regarding property prices, otherwise there would be no demand for...

Re: Unemployment July 2009

No, Australian media is more corrupt than UK.

At least in the UK you have investigative journalists who challenged every article written. Here, nothing. They get away with any old drivel, the...

Re: Unemployment July 2009

The Aus trend is still on the UP.

According to the chart:
Aus unemployment + 50% since Sept 09, (4% -6%)
US unemployment + 55% since Sept 09, (6% - 9.5%)
Spainish unemployment + 30% since...

Re: Average Wage. How many people DON'T Earn it?

Exactly what I'm hearing day in day out. It's so true, you can't look at 'average wages' in Aus and think you'll be Alright and survive. So many newbies are finding out the hard way, they dismiss...

Re: Average Wages May 2009

Exactly, this 'turnaround' is all based on confidence, nothing else. Nothing has changed since the Financial Crisis, only cash thrown at it, the fundamentals are still the same, people taking on more...

Re: Ferrari (His & Hers)

If you are wealthy enough to buy 2 Ferraris then phone Ferrari HQ up and they'll bend over backwards to set you up with a local dealer. Simple, eh?

BTW, there's been a few carjacks of late in...

Re: The new Axis of Evil !!!

There would be no NSW and VIC if there were no mining revenues. WA and QLD keeps the whole country going. Remember, Australia has a one horse economy - digging dirt.

Re: Average Wages May 2009

Interest rates have been slashed to a 49 year low because the economy is stuffed and needs resurecting.

Wages continuing to grow - great if you have a full time job but hours across the board are...

Re: Average Wage. How many people DON'T Earn it?

Excellent post Smartini and yet so true.

From what I've been seeing over the last 2-3 years, is that migrants coming over, unless very cashed up with minimal or no mortgage, are struggling...

Re: The new Axis of Evil !!!

WA hasn't seen much of the 'boom years' revenue. Many infrastructure projects have been put on hold or scrapped. WA only gets 55c in every $1 back in revenue, the rest is shared amongst the other...

Re: Depreciation report on investment place-worth it ?

Definately get a tax depreciation report, you'd be mad not to. The newer your house and fittings, the more depreciation you'll get.

Try Deppro, they charge around $500 or alternatively do it...

Re: Average Wages May 2009

Bear in mind that these wages are for FULL TIME workers. Here’s a few snippets on what else is happening in Australian employment.

Full-time employment decreased by 16,000 and part-time...

Re: Debate Time - I know sensitive subject, but hey?

You are in an enviable position.

I feel sorry for the all youngsters who have recently bought houses with little or no savings and a big mortgage. Not at all 'reasonable'. Another financial...

Re: Debate Time - I know sensitive subject, but hey?

An average house is the average price, approximately $460K in Australia. If a person wants to live in a 1 bed unit CBD, or 6 bed, pool and acerage in woop woop, then that's their choice. The...

Re: Debate Time - I know sensitive subject, but hey?

Too true, it's all about the bottom line - the bank's profits. If the Australian Banking system fails due to dumping house and commercial property then the whole economy goes down with them.

Re: Debate Time - I know sensitive subject, but hey?

The graph was using RBA and US Fed data, so I can't see how the graph has probs. How about this one then?

Another bad idea by the Govt, negative gearing. If there were no tax breaks...

Re: Debate Time - I know sensitive subject, but hey?

So, for prices to boom again, do we need 3 household incomes in the future?

If 2 people are required to work full time and one loses their job or gets hours cut, they can't service the mortgage,...

Re: Are the Ozzy's really that stupid to rely on credit just to live daily?

Apparently, if you have 5 kids in Australia, you don't need to work (probably wouldn't have the energy anyway ) The benfits you receive covers an average annual income after tax. Perhaps...
