Re: Unemployment July 2009
Of course I'd rather be a worker in Aus. My point was unemployment has gone up 50% here and the US in the last 12 months. The US is supposed to be a basket case regarding their economy but the rate of unemployment is the same and our rate is worse than UK. I would of thought the US would of deteriorated faster than Aus, not so.

Re: Unemployment July 2009
Which might explain why the US has almost twice the unemployment rate as Australia.
And it has risen faster over the last two years of this crisis.
The UK is quoted as 7.5%
Australia is 5.8%
And it has risen faster over the last two years of this crisis.
- The Unemployment rate in the USA in July 2007 was 4.6%, it is now 9.5% a 106% increase.
- In the same 2 year period the Australian rate has gone from 4.3% to 5.8%, a 34% increase.

You mean the chart in this article that YOU referred me to earlier...
Bear in mind that these wages are for FULL TIME workers. Here’s a few snippets on what else is happening in Australian employment.
Full-time employment decreased by 16,000 and part-time employment increased by 48,200 in July. So people losing full time work and gaining part time, not a sign of a booming economy.
