"T'rono"- It's London but with equally bad traffic, no culture, history and has worse weather

Calgary works for me, but...

Re: alberta paramedic/ems help

The process was rather painless. It's well laid out on the ACP website, send in everything they require such as transcipts, references, ACLS, PHTLS cards etc. A couple months later they set an...

Re: Are you living the dream?

Living the dream? Yes I still am, wake up with that view of the Rockies, heaven!
Would I do it again? Yes, why didn't I do it earlier?
But then I am one of those anal people who likes to get up...

Re: NS - where did you buy your power converter?

One other suggestion. Some appliances have built-in transformers that you may not realise. Look on the back or bottom of the electrical good, if it says "input 220V" then you need a step up...

Re: Financial doubts

Re: Why Canada?

I'm in Calgary,

Sunny most days. World class scenery, mt biking, hiking, snowboarding, not bad windsurfing/kitesurfing within a short drive (by Canadian standards).

Re: What does the taxman know?

You are taxed on your worldwide income. The reality is though if you deposited the money into the account in cash offshore and never repatriate the money back to Canada, never create a papertrail to...

Serioulsy, book a holiday, spend a couple of weeks in each place and decide for yourself. My wife's family is in Calgary...

Re: Anyone point out what the pro's of the Cdn health system vs UK one is

Re: Anyone point out what the pro's of the Cdn health system vs UK one is

If you go private like I did at a private hospital, by a surgeon that works oodles of hours a week...

Re: Anyone point out what the pro's of the Cdn health system vs UK one is

Re: Anyone point out what the pro's of the Cdn health system vs UK one is

The only thing I don't like about the Canadian system is they don't have private hospitals/UK style private insurance, if I don't want to wait to see a specialist/scan etc I am quite happy to pay....

Re: Anyone point out what the pro's of the Cdn health system vs UK one is
