I work with several people who use a...

Re: MacBook Air - I wanna buy one...

I bought a 15" MacBook Pro a couple of years ago (actually it was bought duty free on my validation trip). I use it everyday for my work (web development), and would buy one of the new MacBook Air...

Motorcycle license

I've read all the stuff about transferring your UK driving license, especially the rules for Victoria (which is where we would be heading).

One thing I've not been able to get a straight answer to...

Question Child Visa Query

I've searched and read as much as I can, but I thought I'd ask a few questions to try and fill in the blanks:

In a nutshell I'm a UK citizen with Australian permanent residency, but I'm still...

Re: Anyone from Ballarat

Not from Ballarat, but we'll almost certainly be going there! :)

My wife's sister and her family emigrated there nearly 6 years ago (they live in Alfredton) and we've spent two (UK) summers there...

PAYG Mobile/SIMs?

We're going to be Aus (Victoria specifically) for the whole of August, and in an attempt to keep our phone bills down we were thinking about picking up some PAYG mobiles or SIMs (to go in some old...

Re: MAY 2008 APPLICANTS

All booked up for our validation trip for August. Fly on the 1st, land on the 31st. :) Can't get better than that!

Some of our friends have been looking at visas recently - so glad we don't have...

Re: MAY 2008 APPLICANTS

Nope. Still in good old (but actually) sunny Blighty.

Current plan is to validate in September, but might go over for a few weeks in the summer instead. Will wait and see.

How's everyone else...

Re: MAY 2008 APPLICANTS

Congratulations!

Can't be many May-BEs left now can there?

For the ones that have got their's, how's the plans to move going? We're all set for our validation trip in September, but...

Re: Anyone been to Oz House to get the label in your passport?

It did concern me, but they have to go special delivery (Australia House requires it), and with a 3-5 day turnaround they're not out of your sight for long.

Re: Where in/around Melbourne?

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, we'd be in close/regular contact with the family in Ballarat, so making that trip easier would be good.

Commute into Melbourne will hopefully be irrelevant as...

Re: Best time of year to move?

The only advice I've seen to be there in time for the new school year starting (January), or at least one of the terms, as it can help the kids settle in.

Re: Two and a bit years in Melbourne and all well I'm pleased to say!

Great to read your story Mike, and nice to see someone else from Cumbria enjoying it out there.

Whereabouts in Cumbria were you?

Re: 176 Family Sponsored Visa Circle

Ring a panel doctor or three near you and compare prices. Ours organised the x-rays for us (although we had to pay for them separately), but others do the x-rays in-house.

Where in/around Melbourne?

Still undecided where to look in Australia - we have family in Ballarat, so somewhere in Victoria seems most sensible. We like the idea of being nearer the coast, and close to Melbourne, but no idea...
