So basically whilst the Australian economy booms and strong growth in the commodities shows no sign of let up, and the AUD will trading well on Sterling -the place to be is OZ, so I'll exchange now...

YES!!! 457 Approved at last. Apparently they don't stamp your passport anymore, it's all done electronically during departures check in - so still a bit nervous something can go wrong.

Looks like a dead bird (wo'nt fly as you put it). There is a convoluted way via the E2 route but its absolutely full an if's, but's and may be's and not a realistic option as you guys have already...

Thanks, the waiting game seems like the only real option.

I have spoken with a lawyer in London who suggested Option 3 as a possible but my parents are coming over on a "last visit" next month...
