Re: Driving from Bilbao to Lagos

If you head for Santander then you can drive all the way toll free as far as the PT motorway.

Re: Rules on laying poison in garden

Re: Moving to the Algarve

If it's the expat retirement life you are after then Cabanas de Tavira is probably worth a look. But be aware that the Health Centre is probably not more English speaking (not the doctors) than where...

Re: Online shopping in Portugal

Amazon.es and vidaXL and all the shops with online presence i.e. Leroy Merlin, Worten, etc provide me with all I need. I do miss eBay though.

Re: Vet in Tavira

We've used Novavet (by the Maria Nova hotel) for a few years now, very happy with the service provided by Sarah Langbridge and Juan.

Re: Passport validity

Applying early is probably the best option, remember that validity for the EU is ten years from the date of issue, which is not necessarily the same as the expiration date shown on the passport.

Re: Covid questions

As you have already pointed out, the vaccination program in Portugal is now very successful. For me it was straightforward and efficient. I don't doubt that there are many cases where people have...

Re: Bureaucracy and mental health

At the risk of being shouted down, I have to say I've never needed the services of a gestor or agency. Perhaps we have been divinely spared the experiences of many who find the day to day processes...

Re: Santander/Bilbao to UK

The rain in Spain was an experience! I must say that I was impressed with the Spainsh motorway driving through the heaviest cloudburst I've seen in a long time. Everyone slowed right down, hazards...

Re: Bureaucracy and mental health

You are right, it's a living nightmare and maybe not for you. Or Steve, or anyone else who can't cope with life here in all its facets. I suggest you choose somewhere else for your next nomadic...

Re: Bureaucracy and mental health

I don't know Steve from Beiras, but I would give him the same advice.

Sh1t happens, maybe the sender didn't fill in the correct form, maybe the Centro de Saude is busy in a pandemic, maybe he...

The password should be your SNS number. Mine was when I first did it, but I've repeated the process on SNS24 to get a new certificate which now has an expiry date (6 months). No password on the...

Re: Santander/Bilbao to UK

No, I arrive on the day of departure, so can't do a PCR test there and get results in time to be allowed to board, and I haven't paid upfront so no problems there.

I think my only option is to...

Re: Santander/Bilbao to UK

The point is that the GOV.UK site says it 'recommends' a PCR test, not antigen. It doesn't mandate it. Timing I am aware of, but some sites offering PCR quote a 48 hour results service making it...
