Unhappy HELP ... residency visa expired

:curse:Due to deaths of two parents in the last year, we returned to the UK in April 2008. Of course, now the reisendcy visa has expired and we are also now both over 50!

We are both British citizens - I have paid 25 yrs worth of NI and taxes, hubby has paid over 30 yrs worth. We were only out for 10.5 months!
We have no investments in oz, we had left our bank...

Pamela, we are looking at Reading as all the family are near by. We figure that it will be easier to travel from there to wherever jobs take us.

I am a qualified psychotherapist with lots of experience but my day job in the UK was accounting - I am an AAT qualified. Can't get jobs in either field.

We didn't find anything wrong with the UK but just needed to get out and find somewhere new to live, to get another experience etc. Here in Oz we don't find much wrong but without jobs, everything...

For the sort of jobs that I am applying for, I have to meet ALL of the essential criteria for the job. So, if for example, they say "have knowledge of Commonwealth/State Legislation", I am not sure...

If you order anything from abroad, say UK or USA, do you get charged customs duty in Oz? I am thinking of things like clothes, books etc.
