Re: How settled are you really in Canada?

As far as being in Canada goes, I fell totally settled and love it here. What unsettles me is my family being so far away. The longer I am here and the older and less healthy my parents get the...

Re: Leaving famly and friends behind

I have found it harder the longer I have been away, I think because of the permanence of it and because you really realise you don't see your family very much at all. One piece of advice I would...

Re: Getting a car/taking over a lease in BC

A good place to look if you want a second hand car is Craig's list. I got mine from here. I'd recommend getting it checked by BCAA or someone though so you don't get screwed over.

I'd also...

Re: Bell mobile

Good question re the phone card. If I use an international phone card on my cell, will I be charged even though the call would be free on a land line?

Go into Bell and kick up a massive stink. ...

Re: Snowboarding!

Yes the online stores in Canada leave a lot to be desired! Sometimes I order from the States for equipment I can't find here but half of them don't deliver to Canada because of the customs hassle!...

Re: 1095 days > Citizenship

I have heard that they may soon require you to choose between your country of birth or Canada for your citizenship, i.e. give up your British passport like you would have to if you emigrated to the...

Re: I miss my Mum!!! (soppy post warning!)

I agree with R2D2 about aiming for the citizenship and then re-evaluating. I don't think I ever really planned to come out here forever anyway. After all, I mainly came to snowboard and live in the...

Re: I miss my Mum!!! (soppy post warning!)

Initially my parents said they would come visit for 2 months a year so I thought, great, I will still see them loads. Now they've said they'll only come for 2 weeks, then maybe another 2 weeks...

Re: Vancouver Day Trips

I would definitely recommend Grouse. Go up in the day and stay till it's dark. The views are fantastic.

Whistler for a day is always nice. On the way you can stop at Shannon Falls and...

I miss my Mum!!! (soppy post warning!)

So I just said goodbye to my parents, having spent a couple of weeks with them here in Canada, and now they're back home to Oz. I haven't lived in the same country as them or my sister for 2 years...

Re: Anyone else in process of Skilled Application with AEO

From what I researched before people seemed to wait about 3-4 months for med requests after putting in their AEO. I sent my AEO to CHC in in Feb and got my med request in May.
