Re: Is it just the English?

Not as polite in Australia (generally speaking), but it is not really something that has had as long to develop - less traffic. People would be murdering each other left, right and centre in the UK...

Re: Sydney house prices -Shock, horror!!!!

Re: If You Were in Our Shoes What Would You Do?

I would certainly not bank on prices in the UK rising until 2008. The boom is over and we are heading into stagnation time AT BEST. You would be better off buying in Oz, where prices are already...

Re: A better Life for the children - UK or Oz???

I have to laugh. What is wrong with you people? You just cannot compare London to Perth. I am from Sydney, now living in Leeds. Sorry, Leeds is not all sunshine and flowers either (nor is London...

Re: Newcastle NSW

Me and my husband worked in Newcastle for 3 years. Love it there. Quite a good night out to be had as well. It is beautiful, surrounded by water and pretty trendy in the centre.

Re: Can't decide - UK or Oz!! may return to UK for a 1-2yr trial - help!

We had a huge 4 double bed, 4 recep, 3 bath house in Oz + pool and double garage and shed - standard issue. We brought all of our furniture back (I was not sure about this at first!), + car + dog +...

Re: Hello....we are back in blighty

Hi - actually we were first insured with Norwich Union (also accepted our NCB) because we imported our car from Oz and they were the only one's who would ensure while we were waiting for UK...

Re: Hello....we are back in blighty

Huh? I don't get it. My husband and I have come back to the UK and are entitled to NHS treatment. Our car insurance also accepted our Australian NCB - however I did insure with the same company I...

Smile Re: How do you reach a decision to return to the UK??

My husband always says that they got it the wrong way around, they should have left the convicts in the UK and sent everyone else to Oz.

Re: How do you reach a decision to return to the UK??

Me and my husband are the same. Has taken the move back to the Uk to make us realise what we left behind. Although we love being back in the UK too, I think if we went back to Aus again in the...

Re: BUYING HOUSE - Anyone paid for house from UK funds?

You can open a bank account in London with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, they transfer your funds and set up Oz bank account all ready for your arrival. It is a special migration service.

Re: Hello....we are back in blighty

If you look on the inland revenue site it states that if you own UK property you are considered resident, for tax purposes, even if you are not. I had a friend in Oz who owned property in UK and her...

Re: Can u cram a car?

That is funny, because we brought our car from Oz to UK last year and were definitely NOT allowed to pack it. Maybe it depends on your removals company, ours was Pickfords - so if they don't know,...

Re: Can u cram a car?

From shipping a car from Oz to UK. It may be possible the other way around, but I have to say I am surprised. Will the items be covered by insurance too? And I'm a mate-ess by the way.

Re: Sell or rent out the house?? Help Needed!!

Sorry, I do just have to say that those who do not think it is possible that UK house prices will drop should take a closer look at the ecomony.

Re: Hello....we are back in blighty

Does owning property in Oz mean that you can renew your RRV? I know if you hold property in the UK you are considered resident? My husbands RRV is up in 2010, but we own property in Oz.

Re: taking car

Nope, you are not allowed to do that. Our car was shipped from Oz to Uk in the container with our furniture, but you can't put anything in it. We packed the house and the container ourselves,...

Re: rental income, tax implications...

I have rented my house in Oz, now in UK. I asked the ATO how they would know if I bought a property in the UK. They said they have very good links with the UK regarding tax. Vways and means.

Re: Shipping car

We shipped car from AU to UK. We could not fill it with possessions. Get your speedo changed to km's before you go to save the hassle when you get there.
