Re: L1-B to GC. Any recent successful applications.

I think the main difficulty relates to timescales. The L1-B is for a maximum of 5 years and cannot be renewed beyond that. If you fall into the EB-3 category for a green card it is extremely...

Re: Renewed L1, options for consulate interviews, possibly South Africa.

I think the term to check for is to find out if they offer processing of applications from 'third country nationals'. Consulates in Canada generally do, but I am sure it is less common somewhere...

Re: L1A...to what? (To stay in the states)

If your long term aim is to remain in the US, then it would definitely be worth doing a bit more reasearch on the visas you are looking at and the paths to a green card from each one.

One of the...

Re: L-1B to H-1B change of status

I suspect the reason that they want to do this is because of the length of time they expect it will take to get your green card. The L1-B is for a maximum of 5 years and cannot be extended any...

Re: San Diego

I've not lived in either of these places but would say they are definitely quiter than the beach areas you were talking about in your previous post. A lot depends on where you are going to be...

Re: San Diego

For PB, OB and MB, this agency does a lot of rentals: www.pennyrealty.com. Look on their 'long term rentals' section as they also do vacation rentals. Mission Beach is going to be expensive and is...

Re: L1A to Green Card- Persuading employers to sponsor

I think you could present a good argument on the potential costs to them if they do want this to become more of a long term arrangement. If you were to stay for the full 7 year duration of the L,...

Re: L1 expiry -then what

If you submit I-140 and I-485 concurrently for your green card application, you can also apply for an EAD as part of the I-485. Once this is approved I believe you could use this in the event that...

Re: How to book a flight with complications

I would use Expedia to figure out which airline has the best price by entering in the details for each of the dates you need, then go to that airlines website and check they match Expedia's price. ...

Re: H1-B v L1-B

I came to the US on an L1 visa around 5 years ago. My employer tried to transfer someone else from our UK office around a year ago to work on my team and we initially filed an L1-B for this person. ...

Re: Once im on my H1B....

Not necessarily. For EB2, the employer would have to show that the role you are employed in requires either a Masters degree or a Bachelors degree plus 5+ years of relevant experience, so based on...

Re: Creative Solutions?

The only other option I can think of which nobody has mentioned would be an E visa. This would only work if you could find a non-US employer from a treaty trader company, but unlike the L visas you...

Re: Moving To Phoenix In Autumn on L1 Visa

Check out the web-site www.meetup.com. It's a good place to find expat meetups.

Re: L1-B Whats my chances?

Congratulations! Have a search on here for posts about interview experiences - lots of people have written them up in detail and it is good to know what to expect. In general the interviews for L1s...

Re: L1-B Whats my chances?

If you are also going to have direct reports in the US, I would ask them to check if you meet the requirements for an L1A rather than L1B. If you do then decide to stay longer term it makes it a...

Re: L1 to which visa?

Have a look at post #4 in this thread http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=668242

It is from an immigration attorney. I don't think being on E2 rules out the green card.

Re: L1 to which visa?

Why not? If the role you are doing fits the criteria for an employment based green card, why does moving to a different visa present a problem?

Re: Drinking holes in San Diego

Pizza port is great - I've been to the one in Solana Beach which is a very easy stagger across the road from the coaster station. The Coaster ride is quite scenic and those beach towns are nice to...

Re: Question to Experts: L1A to H1B while in AOS

No

No, although many people who get EB1C green cards have L1A visas it is not a requirement for using this category.

I don't know the answer to this one - it is difficult to say given...

Re: L1-A to GC - Process and requirements

I would strongly recommend using a lawyer for the application. Although the requirements for L1-A and an EB1-C green card are similar and you can probably reuse much of the same information, there...

Re: San Diego for Brits?

This is definitely another reason to recommend renting to start off with. You need to work out where in the city you want to live as there are so many differences between the different neighborhoods...

Re: how to deal with upset family members!

If that is the case, they may well find that they get to spend more time with you after the move than they did before. My in-laws live a 5 hour drive from where we used to live in the UK and we used...

Re: Setanta / Fox Soccer Plus

I'm a Saints fan. I moved to the US the year we got relegated from the Prem, so I've only got to see them play about 2 or 3 times on TV in the last almost 5 years. I used to go to St Mary's fairly...

Re: Setanta / Fox Soccer Plus

I can't wait for this game as well - I couldn't believe the draw especially with them being the last two teams out of the hat. I will actually be in the UK, but no chance of getting to the game...
