Re: Transitioning from teaching in a UK secondary school to teaching elementary in Ca

My wife and I taught in the UK from 1993 to 2007 ..... moved to BC in late 2007.

The only reason we were able to get onto a TOC list is because the HR officer at the time (Richmond) was from South...

Re: Dr Henry Morgentaler, Order of Canada

I don't know how the average Jacques in the street would take to it, though.

As an aside, do you really not think that Cherry's...

Re: Dr Henry Morgentaler, Order of Canada

I don't think that could be a consistent position.

My position is that the level of offence (sp, eh?) caused by the award is the reason why it should not be granted.

Millions of Canadians view...

Re: Dr Henry Morgentaler, Order of Canada

I doubt it's quite as black/white as that but on balance, yes, I'd say I'm pro-choice. I would never choose an abortion myself but I'm glad that others have the choice to make as they wish.

Re: Dr Henry Morgentaler, Order of Canada

I agree. The appointment is politically driven. Not by any 'organised' political party, but certainly by a political 'movement'. Who is it who's doing the "letting"?

Re: Dr Henry Morgentaler, Order of Canada

Should the Order of Canada be based on a referendum? My point was that the appointment of the award polarises opinion in Canada in a way that Geddy Lee's (two concerts, do I get a Purple Heart??)...

Re: Dr Henry Morgentaler, Order of Canada

I think a better way of describing it would be "Canada's abortion laws aren't as they aren't largely because of Morgentaler's efforts".

You are kidding, aren't you? Abortion and christianity .... "don't really see any connection" ... !!

It's worthwhile to have a look at the Order of Canada page.

Re: Quick (and simple?) question

Yep, it's a P85 form that you need to fill in. Don't worry though, it'll be a nice litttle earner of about £400 rebate that you can get back. I'm not entirely sure that you can backclaim, but I'd...

Re: Best Banks in Canada!

I don't mind being charged for going overdrawn (without authorisation) but regular fees for regular transactions are something that I don't think I'll ever be able to stomach.
