Re: Possibly move to New York... and very scared!!

It could also matter where in Manhattan he will be based. For example, if his office is on the East side, taking a train to Grand Central might be more convenient than to Penn Station. Manhattan is...

Re: Possibly move to New York... and very scared!!

I don't find New York scary at all :)
Even in Manhattan there are lots of families with kids and there are some nice areas, for example in Upper East or Upper West side close to the park. Of...

Re: Banking - Form W-8BEN

As far as I know the W-8BEN is just for the bank to know if they should withhold income tax on any interest earned or not, and has nothing to do with the Patriot Act. If you are exempt from income...

Re: Go to Google!

Works with "miserable failure" as well.

Other old jokes to try are "mass destruction" and "french military victories". Type either of them in the search box and hit "I'm feeling lucky"...

Re: Please Help - Using UK electronics in USA

Our PC has no switch but works both here and in Europe. Check the manual or the backside of the PC - maybe it says something like "100-240V".

Good luck with the move!

Re: More FFS this time with healthcare

That totally depends on your insurance. I recently had a root canal done and (after a little discussion with the insurance) didn't have to pay anything (just root canal, no crown). The dentist's bill...

Re: income tax on commissions

Thanks for replying. He won't be anywhere close to $320,000.
Still puzzled... just hope that we'll get some of it back next year.

income tax on commissions

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone here knows whether commissions are taxed at a higher rate than regular salary. From what I found on the IRS website I got the impression that there should be no...

Re: how easy is it to move to usa from uk?

If you can afford it, you could consider doing a degree in the States, that way you could get a student visa. By the time you get your degree, you might be ready for marriage or not.

Re: How to handle disagreement over dentist's bill?

It seems that miracles do happen :)

Cigna told me on the phone that they won't pay for the consultation and today I logged on to my account and couldn't believe my eyes. They have paid the...

Re: How to handle disagreement over dentist's bill?

I am aware of this. The problem is that there is no logic in what the insurance company tells me here. This $150 is for a "consultation" and the insurance refuses to pay because according to them I...

Re: How to handle disagreement over dentist's bill?

Hi, that's really bad, I would be a lot more upset over $4000 than $150! I hope that you will be able to sort it out. Congratulations on your baby daughter!

Re: How to handle disagreement over dentist's bill?

I'm willing to believe that he didn't expect that as he didn't charge me on the spot and tried to bill the insurance for that. After all, there's no logic in it - normally a consultation/diagnosis...

How to handle disagreement over dentist's bill?

Hi all,

I was wondering if you ever had a disagreement with a dentist (or any doctor) regarding a bill and how did you handle it. I have Cigna PPO and had to see an endodontist for a root canal....

We also bought the Philips 642. At first we were disappointed as the picture was quite foggy when playing PAL DVDs. Having read only good things about it I decided that there must have been a problem...

Re: Compulsory Medicals for Kids

My son's school requires a medical every year - sports or no sports. And then of course you need one for the after school program and one for the summer camp etc etc.

Re: root scaling and planing

Thanks for that link. Scary stories indeed. Obviously, in your case you didn't need it. However, it is not a cosmetic procedure, it is a procedure to treat gum problems and it is covered by my...
